when i went on disk management it wasnt there, but i can see it on device manager under disk drives. They said try plugging directly into a sata port in my pc and see if it was recognised. Nice of Microsoft to be so considerate. HELP........ I followed your above instructions up to and including going to Device Manager > Disk Drives > and found the 'seagate expansion desk SCSI Disk Device'. Tried a powered USB hub, that didn't work. So you can fix the stuff you own quickly—and get back on with your life.

After a lot of R&C (research and check) I found that seagate has announced if the drive doesn't work, one of the reasons may be the lack of sufficient watt or Try it with a different USB cable to see if that works. I'm an 81 yr old pensioner, I can't afford another external hard drive especially when it works well on Windows 7.
